Why fanfiction?
The thing about fanfiction is... It's like the manifestation of raw creativity. It's not perfect. Sometimes it's filled with plot holes, bad grammar, crappy expression, and a hundred other faults that can be summed up in one word: amateurism.
Yet, despite the grimaces at particularly hopeless cases, the temptation to scribble red ink all over the thing to point out mistakes, and the occasional urge to skip entire paragraphs altogether,.... you simply cannot stop reading. There's always something there, holding you back... something along the line of sharing a hidden treasure, something 'more'.
And it's just the way I visualize love.
SE?
"How come a fictional sad ending can affect you so much?"
"Because every random good thing I see reminds me that somewhere out there, someone is suffering... someone who needs those things much, much more than I ever do."
"You do know that your 'someone' doesn't exist in the real world, right?"
"So what? Those characters' lives have been written down, have been read. They exist in the writer's mind, and in the mind of anyone who has ever come across the book. I'd say it's as mush of an existence as any."
